“What should I be doing with my podcast during December? I hear a lot of gurus talking about consistency, but…gosh, I really need some time off, too!” That is a question I get oh-so-often this time of year, so let me help you get some clarity on the situation.
There are two good reasons TO record/edit/publish your podcast
1 - People are doing things that allow them to “binge listen”
Folks are not only traveling but taking time off, baking, wrapping presents, etc. You know, things that allow them to hit “play” and let ‘em roll! This is the perfect time for them to listen to this month’s episodes, and last month’s, and that ones they missed this summer, and…
2 - Business gurus are right: consistency is key
It’s important to stay top-of-mind, and in today’s 30-second attention span life we live, it won’t take long for even your most-ardent followers to…shall we say “set you aside?”
On the other hand, there’s a good reason to not publish this month
The holidays can be a good mental break for you, too
As Daniel the Tiger used to say “Rest is best.” Just as the kids will take a break from school and (most likely) do nothing at all school-related, it’s important for you to refresh and hit “re-set,” too. We all need rest, friend, even though you may not think you do ;-) And nothing fuels creativity better than a rested mind and body!
Two hot tips to help you get through the month
1 - Batch record a bit before December and schedule them to publish in the future.
2 - OR, spread out and publish a few less episodes. (If you’ve been podcasting for awhile, consider re-publishing a previous recording that was well-received.)

Thank you for joining me this past year, friends. It’s always been my dream to start a podcast about podcasting - and this was the year! I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming year, too, ‘cause, as we both know: life’s too short to wing it!
