Monday Boost 7: Four Truths to put into practice
I have been reading out of my One Year Bible about Abraham.
And, you know, the BEST way to really seal truth into our hearts is when we speak it out loud. I know truths that I learn from God’s word go so much deeper when I share them with a friend. Sharing could look like speaking it in a small discipleship group that you are in, or maybe teaching younger women in a Life Group, or it could totally be in a conversation with a friend! I think its SO NEAT when God leads a conversation to a situation that I have been learning about in the Bible.
So, I’m going to share something that God gave me through His word. And, I was able to share it with a friend. We talked about how it could totally relate to a situation I was walking through that particular day AND how it related to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT situation SHE has been walking through.
So, I’m going to share that today…a literal message I had left for a friend on Voxer. It was from Genesis 24 starting in verse 2 when Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac. At first the servant had a questions, he’s like, what if the girl I find doesn’t come back with me? But, Abraham gives him specific instructions and he goes to find Isaac a wife! So, I’m reading this and seeing that we can learn a great truth from this story in Genesis. Abraham’s servant did 4 things. Number one. He prayed. He prayed for success that day. And, he prayed that the girl who was to be Isaac’s wife would offer him a drink of water AND offer his camels a drink as well. Read vs. 12-14
Number two. He opened his eyes and did something. The servant saw Rebekah coming and ran over to ask her for a drink from her water jug. Read vs. 15-20 ***BEFORE HE HAD FINISHED PRAYING, ya’ll.***That boosts my faith up bc of that right there! Principal who is a comedian, Gerry…Parenting, it’s a verb! Ran is a verb. ACTION.
My daddy used to say you can pray for wind, but you gotta put your oars in the water….
Number three: He watched and waited. The Bible says he watched her in silence. Read vs. 21-25 He realized that she was who God was leading him to!
This is a word for somebody here listening… I know SO MANY TIMES, I like to talk about what I should do instead of being quiet, maybe it’s the enneagram 7 wing coming out…I don’t like a lot of quiet. Silence is hard but required in our walks with Jesus.
Then, number four: He worshiped God. He gave praise to whom praise is due. To God alone went the glory. He did not take any of the glory. Read vs. 26-27 Example “Don’t take the glory” Annie Pacjic from last years episodes mom told her one time.
So, this is what I did in this situation this week. Ok, those are the four things I need to do. In the situation this past week and every situation.
1) Pray: I’m gonna pray about it.
2) Opened his eyes and did something. I’m gonna step and show action.
3) Watched and Waited. Wiat and see what God wants to show us. “Open Hands, here.”
4) Worshiped God : Were gonna worship God with whatever the answer is. God’s gonna show us that and we WILL HAVE a peace about it.
