Monday Boost 8: Lessons from Joseph
Today, I was reading in my One Year Bible and there were a some specific lessons that I saw in scripture in Joseph’s story that I desire to have in my own life. And, I thought these may encourage you in your walk as well! I love Joseph’s story in the Bible and everytime I hear a sermon or read it, I hear something new!
There are three truths that I saw in the exerpt of Joseph’s story today and that’s what I’m going to share! The part of the stoy I read today was when he was being taken to Egypt after being sold to traders.
1. God’s Presence: God was with Joseph. Genesis 39:2 “The Lord was with Joseph so he succeeded in everything he did.as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph giving him success in everything he did.” The Lord’s presence was with Joseph and if you have come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior he is with you! His presence is with you! People will take notice when God is with you, when God is at work within you. They will know there is something different about you! Just like Potiphar realized that about Joseph.
2. Flourishing Household and Business: Joseph ran Potiphars household smoothly and his crops and livestock flourished. In verse 5 it says, “From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.” I desire to be diligent, be organized in running my home! And, soon I will be teaching women business owners how to use Instagram for their business and I want to be diligent in that as well. It’s takes planning and being disciplined, but I desire my home and business both to flourish!
3. All Glory to God: When Pharaoh had a dream that he wanted Joseph to interpret, Joseph pointed Pharaoh back to God. In chapter 41 of Genesis, it says, “It is beyond my power to do this,” Joseph replied, “But God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.” Joseph pointed Pharaoh to God and made it clear that it wasn’t him doing the interpreting, it was God. And, that He is the one who brings peace. And, I want to do the same. I want to point people back to God- On the podcast, in my family, on social media, and in conversation with people I come in contact with everyday!
Today, thank Him for His presence in your life. Give God the glory and pray for your household and business to flourish.
