ep 136: Health and Wellness Summer Podcast Series: Iva May: Biblical Literacy
Hi friend! Last time we were together, you heard from Life Coach, Nutritional Coach and podcaster, Verona Angol.
In that episode, we talked about physical health. She shared with us her story and some great practical tips that we can all put into practice about how to be physically healthy but I LOVED how Verona connected it with being spiritually healthy. You can listen to that one episode back, number 135. A lot of you are finding this series super helpful and I’m so grateful! Thanks for joining me each week!
This Summer, my prayer for all of us is to have a reset in all areas of our health; mental health, physical health, parenting health, health in our small businesses, relationship health, and spiritual health. And, as you are enjoying this series of episdoes, I would love for you to leave a rating and review over on your podcast app!
Today’s guest is Iva May. She is wife to Stan, mom to three adult children, and grandmom to her 1st grandchild. Iva is a speaker, author, and director of Chronological Bible Teaching.
She is passionate about getting into God’s word and encouraging others to do the same! I haven’t been a crier in years, but I get emotional when our conversation leads to setting strong priorities in our lives and families.
SHOW NOTES:
Quotes from the episode:
“I needed God desperately and I could not be the mother they deserved to have without drawing near to Him.”
“They also need to see and know and understand that you are a broken person, but that you aren’t satisfied in expecting everyone to accommodate your brokenness.
“It’s like God downloaded into my spiritual DNA a deep thirst to know His word.”
“We live out our view of God and if you get your view of God wrong, your life will be wrong as well.”
“You cannot know His name without His word.”
“Left without God’s word, you will construct a view of God that looks nothing like Him”
“You cannot imagine God, He has to be revealed.”
“When we discover who He is and align ourselves with Him we walk in great peace and great truth.”
“Whatever God says he will do, he will do in real time.”
“I don’t believe you can understand any issue that we face without going back to Genesis.”
“The more Bible literate Christians are, the better the conversations we can have with one another.”
“Let’s be good stewards of the life that God’s given us.”
“ My kids deserve a better mother than the one I present to them if I do not spend time with the Lord.”
“When my kids were little I was so broken that if God didn’t come through for me, I would do a terrible job that day.”
“In order for me to be the person I need to be, I need to set some really strong priorities and stay with them.”
“I think we love ourselves too much.”
“Let’s be good steward of the lives that God is giving us.”
“God has created things just for you through His working through your life that only you can do.”
“There are going to be things you have to say no to.”
“Don’t waste the time that you have.”
“You find out who God wants you to be as a wife and mom and you do that regardless of how it affects your friendships with people around you.”
“I don’t want to waste my life.”
Verses:
Psm 138:2 “I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.”
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Tangible tips we can do in order to get into God’s word.
1) Construct a plan
2) Follow that plan
3) Pay attention to the storyline of the Bible
4) Read the Bible with a group of people
5) Get up earlier than your children
