Do you feel like you barely have the time to do all the things you need to do in your business.. do the financials, meet with clients, content creation, marketing, email my listeners, and then I'm supposed to make a video post on social media too??!! How can I get it all done when I don’t have much time?
listen...I hear you. I was SO afraid of this when I started my FOAF podcast,
I only committed to doing one interview podcast episode a month! (now, I was doing an interview episode and the edited portion was about an hour long!) but STILL. Then, I decided to do 2 a month, then 4!
3 Ways to Start Your Podcast When You Don’t Have Time
And let me be straight up real with you...an hour long interview podcast every single week IS A LOT especially with very part time hours. IT'S A LOT, A LOT, like a lot a lot!
You know you need a podcast, but you do not think you have the time. Or you may not have a lot of time but you have a window of time…and you can use it to your advantage!
Three
Let me tell you 3 ways you can start a podcast, do it well, not want to quit it, and reap the benefits of it while not spending dozens of hours on it each week! In about 3-4 hours a week!
1. Do a weekly solo podcast! (roughly 1-2 hours a week!)
But who says you have to do an interview podcast??? NOBODY. Let me set you free. If you have a business, you need to feature YOUR OWN SERVICES!!! Why would you spend all that time and energy promoting others and doing their heavy lifting when starting a podcast is a needle moving activity for YOUR business, not theirs.
Hear me well...IF YOU ARE dying to interview ppl, ask yourself why. Does it fit your mission for your biz and in your podcast?
2. If its a combo podcast- interviews and solo. (roughly 1-3 hours a week) WITH YOUR EDITING OUTSOURCED and other admin tasks. : If you are desiring to do interviews on your podcast or a combo, think of OUTSOURCING the editing of it. Interview podcasts can range from 25 minutes to an hour OR MORE! By outsourcing the podcast, it will help you save time, not be so perfectionistic about every um and swallow and it will help you employ someone who is much quicker at it!
3. Do a SET IT AND FORGET IT: (A ONE and DONE podcast!) (One time 4-8 hours) This is for you if you are VERY CLEAR on what your podcast is about, who you serve, and how this relates to your mission, vision, and values, and how it can serve you long term with your big business goals. This is kinda my fav. You come up with 6-12 episodes that are laser focused between giving value and offering your specific services (this works very well for entrepreneurs who have a lot of irons in the fire....they have very busy lives AND they have many passions and company ideas.
8 episodes, all available at the same time.
If you say you can’t afford the time to start a podcast for your business, I’ll say you can’t afford not to. It’s that important!
