3 Ways to Make Your Podcast Profitable: Q & A Session with Wren Robbins

Every Tuesday at 1 pm Central you can find me live on Instagram, answering questions from listeners and followers. In today’s episode, I’m taking three recent questions and sharing those answers here.

1 - What are the pros and cons of using Apple paid subscriptions?

Apple Podcasts Program is a potential way to monetize your podcast. By establishing a subscription model, you can offer extra episodes, early access, and ad-free listening. The downside is “ya gotta pay to play.” They take 30% of your subscription charge, (15% if a subscriber lasts over a year), and depending on what you charge for your subscription, that can add up to a chunk o’ change that doesn’t make it into your pocket.

2 - How do I make sure my podcast is profitable?

Have a plan

Offer value in every episode

Make sure you have a strong CTA (call-to-action), usually in the outro

  • Leave a review

  • Get a free download

  • Get on my email list

3 - Can I pitch myself to be a guest on other podcasts if I don’t have a podcast yet?

Absolutely yes! However, you don’t want it to be a cold call. Make sure you’ve already established a relationship with them in some other format, whether it’s getting on their email list, messaging them on Facebook or Instagram, etc.
