Becoming a guest on someone else's podcast is the best way to grow your podcast listenership. But before you start breaking out your Joe Rogan mic…there are some things you need to be put into place BEFORE this happens:
Making sure that you provide value to YOUR listeners is so important. The podcast host that you will collaborate with will KNOW that your priority is providing value. That’s the first step!
Being consistent in your podcast schedule is another way to become swap-worthy. Consistency is relative so whatever your schedule is for posting your podcast, stick with it, and if something comes up (and it probably will) alert your listeners of this. They appreciate your keeping them in the loop with your podcast schedule, promise!
Asking for podcast reviews does not need to end after your podcast launch! A Call to Action asking for a podcast review on other episodes (even if you’ve been podcasting for years) will help you gain that trust from new listeners. People do read reviews!
Using social media to promote your episodes is a practical and unmistakable way to build your downloads each week. Make sure there is proof that points to your podcast!
