Today's episode is with my Instagram friend, Vera. Vera has an incredible story of how she competed in the Track and Field Olympic trials in 2016, but how she walked through the disappointment of not making the Olympic team. Vera started writing scriptures on her arm while training to run track and field in college. And, it is so neat to see how God led Vera and her sister, Natalie to share this way to memorize scripture in their company, Dwell Differently.
Most of us probably cannot relate to being in Olympic trials, but what we all can relate to is yearning for something and seeing someone close to you get it and struggling with jealousy. Whether its having a baby, marrying a Godly man, getting that dream job, building a home, having a great family, most of us have yearned for something someone else got. This is the part of the interview when I started tearing up because I feel like comparison is such a struggle with many of us, including me.
And, then Vera said something unforgettable. She said, “I trust God more than I want my own desires.” And, I was speechless. Yes, that truly is it. That is the Christian life lived victoriously. Trusting God more than wanting our own desires. Praise Him for this encouraging conversation with Vera. We pray you are encouraged listening.
